It has a new look, comes with Cortana integrated and has a lot of performance improvements over the last few series of Windows operating system. Window Snapping on Windows 10
Window Snapping was first introduced with Windows Aero on Windows 7 and it has been one of the most used features of Windows OS after that. In Windows 10 you can use the following keyboard shortcuts for Window Snapping.
- Windows Key + Right: This will snap the active window to the right side of the screen.
- Windows Key + Left: This shortcut will snap the window that is active on the left side of the screen.
- Windows Key + Up: Snaps the active window to the top of the screen.
- Windows Key + Down: Snaps the current active window to the bottom of the screen.
You can also combine the keyboard shortcuts to the manage the window properly. Now here you can use the mouse to your imagination to show the windows as you may want to.
Window Management or Tasks View

- Windows Key + TAB: When you press this combination, you will be able to see the new tasks view that comes with Windows 10. You will see that this view also have a selector that moves as you press the TAB button. You can release the TAB button to view the selected window.
- Alt Key + TAB: This isn’t a new key combination on Windows. Windows users have been using this combination since last few versions of Windows and it will help you in switching to the current tasks.
Virtual Desktop
Windows 10 now natively allows you to create virtual desktops. Before Windows 10 this functionality was provided by third party software. Now that this functionality comes built into Windows 10, there are some keyboard shortcuts that you can use.
- Windows Key + Ctrl + D: This shortcut will create a new Desktop and you will be able to switch to it.
- Windows Key + Ctrl + F4: This will allow you to close the virtual desktop that is currently open.
- Windows Key + Ctrl + Left / Right: This keyboard shortcut will help you to switch between the virtual desktops that are open.
For Action Center, Search or Cortana
- Windows Key + A: This will start the Windows Action Center where you can set some settings and view the notifications.
- Windows Key + S: This will start the Windows Search.
- Windows Key + C: This will start Cortana in listening mode.
