Microsoft’s yearly Countdown sale is returning to the Xbox Store, now with an even larger lineup of games and deals to choose from.
Biggest sale ever
Just as last year’s Countdown sale was Xbox’s biggest yet to hit the store; it seems Microsoft is looking to trump itself every year with even larger discounts for their first and third-party titles.
Set to begin on the 22nd of December, and run through until January 9th; the sale will feature multiple daily and weekly deals to keep an eye out for.
What is discounted
Over three-hundred-and-fifty Xbox One and Xbox 360 games will be receiving discounts as deep as 60%. Owners of Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, however, will get another 10% off in addition to the sale’s discounts.
Although the full list of what will be on offer is still to be revealed. Microsoft has confirmed the sale will include this year’s biggest releases such as Battlefield 1, Watch Dogs 2, and Gears of War 4 to name a few.
Also thanks to Microsoft’s Backwards Compatibility Program, more than forty Xbox 360 games will be among the games purchasable on the Xbox One, ensuring nobody will miss out on those classic titles on the newer console despite generation differences.
Additionally, throughout the sale, Xbox Live Gold subscription for new members will be discounted to just $1. Giving benefits such as playing games online, the above mentioned extra discount, free monthly games plus a plenty of other bonuses.
Not just games
Although at first glance, the Countdown sale looks to be focused mostly on the gaming side of things. The Xbox Store hosts much more content than just games, however.
Which is why a whole host of hit TV shows and Movies will be on offer across the sale. From popular shows like Doctor Who and Orphan Black, to brand new blockbusters such as the Suicide Squad.
Sadly, The Countdown Sale does not look like its coming to the Windows Store. There’s a tiny caveat though, as Windows 10 users can play Xbox Play Anywhere titles bought through the Xbox Store for no extra charge.
The Countdown sale will be available on the Xbox Store for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms. Running from December 22nd until January 9th. Coincidentally starting on the same day as the Steam Winter sale by Valve; Microsoft may get the upper hand on this year’s discounts.
