Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Xbox One and PC release date revealed

The crossover fighting game Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is coming digitally to Xbox One and PC platforms this March. Capcom is also releasing a limited physical disk edition, exclusive to consoles, coming the same day.

This re-release of the popular fighting game comes with all the previous DLC for the game released by Capcom. Moreover, the game now runs at a solid 60 frames per second with the resolution bumped up to 1080p. Surely appeasing the hardcore fans that take the fighting game genre very seriously.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is coming to the new platforms after the PlayStation 4 version’s digital release back in December last year, coinciding with the announcement of the upcoming sequel to the game – Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite in late 2017.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

The game’s original release was back in 2011, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. As obvious by its name, the game pits characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes against each other.

As a result, players have a range of popular but diverse characters to fight with, from fan favorites like Spider-Man and Wolverine by Marvel along with Capcom fighters such as Street Fighter’s Ryu and Vergil from Devil May Cry.

The series staple, ‘tag team fighting’ mechanic is also available in this iteration of the game; players can swap between three chosen characters while fighting to beat the opponent’s lineup of fighters they’ve chosen. Sadly, the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be replacing this style with a three character tag mechanic; making this a great time to try out the style of gameplay from the older game.

Capcom is releasing a limited edition physical version of the game for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles that include an exclusive 10-page comic book (cover pictured above), drawn by the Marvel artists Sean Chen and Gerardo Sandoval. Considering the book will detail the storyline about the two Capcom and Marvel universes colliding, it’s a great incentive to buy the physical edition.

The regular digital edition is coming to the Xbox One and PC platforms on the 7th of March for $25. The console exclusive physical edition will release alongside the digital version but with a price tag of $30.
