 More information on Andromeda

The release date announcement comes from the official blog of Mass Effect, also thanking fans for their patience and support. It seems Bioware didn’t want to wait for the NVidia presentation for the announcement, dropping the news early instead.

Speaking of the NVidia CES presentation, and as we covered just a few days ago. Bioware came out with a two-minute trailer featuring the new ship Tempest, some menu systems, and combat gameplay.

Although the legendary Normandy of the previous games is still our favorite ship in Mass Effect; the Tempest looks quite sleek, with footage showing it zipping through an asteroid field and landing on a desert planet.

Up next, the menu system, where players can now change their class while playing unlike in the original trilogy. It’s unclear how fans will react to this change, with having access to all skills and powers seems a tad overpowered. The video, proving how easy it is by maximizing firepower, quite literally, as they level up the flame thrower.

The gameplay showed our new protagonist Ryder fighting some new enemies while on a loyalty mission for a companion. It was actually nice to see we will finally be able to jump in a Mass Effect game. Ultimately, the switch to EA’s Frostbite engine is already showing its merits, as the game looks beautiful and vast.

Although the trailer is far shorter than we would have liked, we suppose at least something is better than nothing. However, We can expect more information to come out as the release date gets closer, to appease any worried fans.

A long time coming, Mass Effect: Andromeda will release on March 21st in North America and March 23rd in Europe. As for the platforms, Andromeda will be available on Xbox One, Windows PC and PlayStation 4.
