Logitech has announced the SmartDock which is an audio-visual meeting room solution in partnership with Microsoft. The SmartDock can easily work with Skype for Business and can help in conducting some efficient virtual meetings using features this new device suite has to offer.
You get Logitech ConferenceCams along with a functional and useful touch screen panel that you can use to manage the meetings.
The Logitech SmartDock allows people to join these meetings easily with just a touch of the display and the display can also be projected which means it is easier to perform presentations and do a group conferencing.
You can choose to do an audio-only call or you can use the ConferenceCams to go for face to face meetings. Skype for Business is a big part of Office 365 and provides a lot of great solutions for big meetings.
When it comes to hardware, SmartDock has some really good things to offer. You get HDMI input and output along with a total of three USB 3.1 ports. A gigabit ethernet port is also added. A motion sensor is also included to save power and this turns the whole setup off when the meeting room is empty.
Logitech SmartDock was designed in collaboration with Microsoft and it will be available first in USA, Canada, and West European countries by the end of this year. This will be priced at $599 which converts roughly to EUR 699.
You will be able to buy the whole package in the Skype Room System suite. You can also buy a SmartDock Extender to extend the functionality of the SmartDock to more people. Each Extender will cost about $249 or EUR 299.
There are three packages to choose from. The Basic Package will get you a Logitech SmartDick along with a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The Huddle Room Package will come with AV capabilities and you get everything that you get in the Basic Package PLUS the Logitech ConferenceCam.
The Large Room Package will bring everything mentioned along with an Extender and two extra mics.
