Earlier this year, iBall launched two laptops in the CompBook series – CompBook Excelance and CompBook Exemplaire at ₹9,999 and ₹13,999. Today, iBall is adding a 2-in-1 to the CompBook series – the Flip-X5.
iBall isn’t a brand you hear of outside the Indian subcontinent – it is, after all, an Indian company – however, they have made some well-built laptops for the Indian markets in the past.
The Flip-X5 has a ‘360-degree rotating hinge’ – much like the Lenovo Yoga series – supporting an 11.6-inch FHD touchscreen display; with a small screen like that, the laptop weighs only 1.37 Kg, despite a 10,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery that can deliver 8.5 hours of usage, per iBall.
How does a 10,000 mAh battery last 8.5 hours? Well, the laptop uses an Intel Atom Z8300 @ 1.44 Ghz – that’s a four-core processor, however, an Atom one; it’s complemented by 2 GB of DDR3 RAM as well as the Intel HD Graphics 5300.
For storage, the laptop has 32 GB of inbuilt flash storage that can be expanded with up to a 64 GB microSD card – very mobile-esque here.
Everything else is quite standard – a 2 MP webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WIFi, Bluetooth 4.0, MiniHDMI, one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm jack that supports both a headphone and a mic. It also comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home.
It’s not exactly a machine to be proud of for its engineering – but at the price of ₹14,999, it’s sure to make a few waves for those looking at budget laptops.
iBall’s previous offerings in the series – Excelance and Exemplaire – share much in common with the Flip-X5, but they are not a convertible, and that’s what’s going to sell this one – especially at that price.
The Flip-X5 is available right now via Amazon India, and various retail chains across India.
