Fans of the Elder Scrolls series are getting a treat with Zenimax Online Studios’ new Elder Scrolls Online expansion – Morrowind. In this new expansion, players get to experience the island of Vvardenfell from Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind once again.
Through the use of data mining, Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) players had previously found information on a possible Morrowind Expansion; the developer’s official announcement effectively confirmed the fan predictions made in the past few weeks.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
The new expansion is bringing more than 30 hours of story content to the world of Elder Scrolls Online; making this the biggest update to hit the game since its launch in 2014.
The developers claim they have recreated Vvardenfell to be the same size as Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. However, keep in mind that ESO takes place 800 years before the events of Morrowind. Meaning that although players can find all the familiar landmarks from the original game, some areas such as the city of Vivec will still be under construction.
Coming as a first to Elder Scrolls Online, the expansion is also bringing a brand new class. This new Warden class is adept in nature magic and brings along a vicious War Bear as a combat ally.
Additionally, for all the Player vs. Player combat fans of the game, there is the new Battleground game mode. This mode has three teams of four battling each other in an arena until the best group emerges.
Now here comes the best news for any new players looking to jump into ESO with the new expansion release. Unlike other MMOs, there won’t be any level requirements to access the new Morrowind expansion’s content of the game. Effectively letting any old or new player abandon what they’ve been doing and board a ship to Vvardenfell immediately.
The Morrowind expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online is coming to the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 platforms on the 6th of June 2017 with plenty of purchasing options that players may decide on.
These range from the $60 Standard Edition containing The Elder Scrolls Online and the Morrowind Expansion to the $100 Collectors Edition that comes with a 12-inch Dwarven Colossus statue that we could briefly see at the end of the announcement trailer.
All in all, many Elder Scrolls fans will greatly appreciate the chance to return to the island’s giant mushroom forests and re-visit all the areas they might remember in the original Morrowind from 2002. Which some players still call the best game to come out in the Elder Scrolls series.
