Asphalt 8: Airborne update adds new cars and McLaren Championship mode

Gameloft’s highly popular multi-platform racing game got a new update this week. The update brings Asphalt 8: Airborne players eight new racing cars and the McLaren Championship game mode to enjoy, this holiday season.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

Known for their arcade toned racing games, the Asphalt series has become a staple in the mobile racing game genre. With 13 titles released in the series since 2004, the Free-to-Play Asphalt 8: Airborne quickly became Gameloft’s most popular release.

Launched in 2013 for Android, iOS, Windows, and Windows Phone; Asphalt 8: Airborne focused more on stunt jumps and tricks. A departure from the police chase focused games in the series’ past.

Since then, the game has won multiple awards and claims to have over 200 million players on the store page; showing no signs of slowing down its growth. The developer Gameloft has continued to update the game since its release in 2013 regularly; adding new cars, tracks and other goodies in monthly patches and events.

The winter update

The newest update arrives with plenty of new content for players. What makes this update special, however, is the inclusion of McLaren supercars to the game.

As a first for the series, players are able to drive these new cars in the newly added game mode – Championship; giving even more variety on how to beat challenges and records with.

Also added are eight new high-performance speedsters available for unlocking, including cars such as the BMW M2, Aston Martin Vulcan, and Chevrolet Impala, perfect for those top score hunting sessions.

Lastly, as a holiday gift from the developers, players are able to unlock some free cars by racing in the new Christmas Cup and two extra events.

Just like the base game, the new update is now available to all players to download and play for free, in addition to the multiple years worth of content already included.

Asphalt 8: Airborne is available on multiple platforms to enjoy on and here are the store pages – Window 10 for PCs, Windows 10 MobileAndroid, and iOS.
