ARK: Survival Evolved Patch v255 brings new creatures and more Tek content

Studio Wildcard has released patch v255 for their dinosaur survival game – ARK: Survival Evolved. The new patch adds four new creatures, highly advanced TEK structures plus some character customization options.

The update is currently available only for the Steam version of ARK, with the console versions still in development. As the game is still in Early Access, be sure to report any new bugs from the update on the developer’s official forums.

Patch v255

New creatures

Although ARK is mainly about gigantic Dinosaurs, there are some small but dangerous critters roam who the lands. The newest patch is adding four new creatures that fit these criteria.

First up is the Microraptor Gnarilongus, this tamable raptor can glide like a bird when the situation calls for it. Giving it the ability to knock off dinosaur riding players straight out of the saddle for easy takedowns.

Next is the Thylacoleo Furtimorsus, a dangerous mammal that dwells in forests to pounce on prey. This marsupial lion can even climb trees to get access to any flying creatures it might have a taste for.

Now we have two aquatic creatures, the Electrophorus Beluadomito Knifefish, and the large nautilus Ammonitina Multiamicus.

The Electrophorus Beluadomito can generate electricity to shock and take down its prey. Players can even tame large schools of these fish to keep them as an underwater electric army.

Lastly, the Ammonitina Multiamicus looks quite defenseless, but that’s deceiving. It turns out, it has a lot of friends in the ocean. Attacking one trigger every nearby sea creature to attack the aggressor (that is, you). Managing to kill one, however, can net players some valuable loot to craft rare equipment.

New Tek structures and other content

Adding to the Game’s recent introduction of the Tek tier of technology are three new structures.

The Tek Forcefield as the name suggests creates a forcefield around the structure. This energy field allows its owners to pass through the barrier but keeps everything else from doing the same.

For the base building fans of ARK: Survival Evolved, the new TEK Tileset, and TEK Doors are now available. In fact, these new Tek Doors ship with automatic opening and closing functionality, saving all those keyboard clicks.

Additionally, new hair and facial styles are also available to customize characters with, along with thirty new Explorer Notes and as always, some optimizations to make the game run just a little bit better.

Patch v255 for ARK: Survival Evolved is now available on Steam for all players to download and play.
