Expanding their line-up of the Lumia series of Windows smartphones, Microsoft has now announced the Microsoft Lumia 650 which is supposed to be one of the best smartphones under the $200 segment. Just like all other Lumia smartphones, this device will also run on Windows and the version you get on this phone is Windows 10.
Let’s talk about the specifications later and let’s discuss why Microsoft released the Lumia 650 to be exact. If you look at the under $200 segment of smartphones, you will notice that Microsoft doesn’t really have a recently released phone in this price range and for them, this segment has been quite dormant hence, the Microsoft Lumia 650 makes perfect sense at $199 USD.
Now, coming towards the specifications of the phone, this phone is not something that you will call a technical powerhouse, but then again, Windows 10 is not an operating system for smartphones that requires high specs to run smoothly. Take a look at the specifications below.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 – 1.3GHz Processor
- 1GB RAM; 16GB internal storage – expandable up to 200GB
- 5-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display – 720x1280px resolution
- 8 Mega Pixel rear camera with LED flash; 5 Mega Pixel front facing camera for selfies and chat
- 2,000mAh battery
- Dual SIM option will be available
The phone looks beautiful without a doubt and deu to a highly polished, diamond cut and anodized aluminum frame the phone feels premium in hands too. The front of the phone has a 5-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution and above that you will see a 5MP front facing wide-angle camera and a few sensors. The top of the phone has an earpiece mesh and the lower side houses the front-facing speakers.
The back of the phone is also clean and you will only see the 8MP camera with flash along with Microsoft logo. The right side of the phone has a volume rocker and a power,/lock button. The left side is clean and the whole phone has a minimalistic look going on which makes the phone look appealing.
Software & Utilities
The phone runs on Windows 10 and comes with Office 365 suite which will provide all kinds of productivity tools to the user. Windows 10 itself is a great change from Windows Phone 8.1 which means you get a lot of new features bundled inside the phone software.
All in all Microsoft Lumia 650 looks like a solid Windows 10 device under $200 USD and it will go on sale beginning February 18, 2016 in few of the European markets. The phone comes in two colors i.e. matte black and matte white.
