Hulu now offers 4K streaming for Xbox One S and PS4 Pro

Hulu is now offering select shows and movies from its library in 4K UHD; the streaming service requires a stable 13 megabits per second internet connection, and a display that supports the UHD resolution.

There’s one more requirement: Xbox One S, or PlayStation 4 Pro; as for the moment, these two consoles are the only ones with support for 4K UHD streaming.

Hulu on Xbox One

There is no separate tier to access 4K UHD streaming – existing Hulu subscribers can start streaming in 4K right now if they have the required hardware and a good internet connection.

The 4K UHD content, however, remains scarce – most of the Hulu Original shows such as “The Path” and “11.22.63” are now available in 4K, but that’s not much content when compared to what Netflix or Amazon offer.

There is, however, more for the James Bond fans, as Hulu is now streaming most of its James Bond catalog in 4K.

The titles include classics such as “From Russia with Love” and “Goldfinger” to the more recent releases like “Spectre.” You can check out the full list below.

  • Spectre
  • Die Another Day
  • The World Is Not Enough
  • GoldenEye
  • Licence To Kill
  • The Living Daylights
  • A View To A Kill
  • Never Say Never Again
  • Octopussy
  • For Your Eyes Only
  • Moonraker
  • The Spy Who Loved Me
  • The Man With The Golden Gun
  • Diamonds Are Forever
  • On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
  • You Only Live Twice
  • Thunderball
  • Goldfinger
  • From Russia With Love
  • Dr. No

More Support

Hulu admits that availability remains a problem at the moment – the content is sparse, and the supported devices are little; Hulu plans on adding support for more devices “in 2017.” Hopefully, these plans include support for Windows 10 via a UWP app.

As for the content, Hulu is still trying to grab more 4K content; its upcoming Original shows such as “Shut Eye” will be available in 4K, but the 3rd party content library needs a lot of work.
